Boys’ Tennis Team Brings Their “A”-Game

By Britney Fry

The boys’ tennis team expects promising results from this new season. Although they’re not the same as last year, they have still been a fiercely competitive team in the MAC conference.
Coach Ramos and Coach Wiley have certainly produced a great team and come up with lots of talented players. In recent weeks, the boys have held their own against the other teams in their conference. They worked hard to come out on top against Burlington, North Scott, Davenport North, Davenport West, and Davenport Central .Unfortunately they did experience some losses along the way when they faced Pleasant Valley, Bettendorf, and Assumption, but the teammates stayed strong and learned from their defeats. Senior Duncan Eichelberger said that “this year’s team has really improved on team spirit and working together.” There are plenty of other seniors to lead the way, which has helped the team earn many of their wins. Certain players such as Bryson Cale, Lee Reyes, Austin Czerwiec, Ben Chrisman, and Caleb Mann have especially stood out this season and played hard to represent our school. All our boys are especially strong in their serving skills and agility which has definitely taken them far and will continue to do so through this year and hopefully into next year as well.
As the tennis season comes to a close, the boys’ team is expecting to rank at a respectable 4th place in the MAC conference. With so many seniors leaving, it is a mystery as to what next year will hold. Nevertheless, the boys have done incredibly well this season for themselves and for MHS. Most importantly, they had a fun time creating lasting memories with their teammates and coaches, which is probably what matters most in the end.
