The Muscatine Boys Soccer team has had an awesome season so far. Varsity’s record is 6 and 1 and JV’s record is 5, 7 and 1 and the sophomores are 9 and 1. The Varsity team is working very hard to achieve their goal of winning the MAC, winning 3 substates and going to state.
Juan Espinol has been on varsity since his freshman year. The positives and negatives for Espinol are winning and losing. “Our team is outgoing we all get along well and help each other on the field. Working as a team comes natural for the boys and they have good communication on the field.” This open communication helps the boys to succeed on the field.
Miguel Carrillo, freshman, plays on the sophomore team. Carrillo said, “Our team is fun to play with and we all work hard to win.” The sophomore’s one loss comes from the game against Bettendorf, which was a close game.
Jose Carranza, sophomore, plays for the JV team. “My favorite memory is running over some kid from Burlington this year.” Carranza likes being on JV because it’s fun and we mess around and there is a lot less pressure.
All three teams hope to make this season a winning season, “Working hard at practice and getting a lot done will make this season go the way we want it,” said Espinol.
