With a few victories behind them, the girl’s golf team is leading the way to success.
Gerry Teel, coach for the girl’s golf team, says the season has been successful so far. One of the highlights of the season was a recent tournament, where they won a 14-team competition. Coach Teel said he is pleased with how the team is doing. “I feel good about where we are,” he said.
The girl’s golf team is looking forward to facing off against other schools in the MAC. Coach Teel also looks forward to competing in state. With only one loss, the Muscatine girl’s golf team has beaten all other schools in the area.
Mr. Teel said he enjoys coaching for the team. His favorite part about the season is “watching the athletes improve,” he said. Something new he added to the golf team were the changes to practices, allowing the girls to make their own practice plan.
Chenza Manjoine, senior, is also proud of how the team is doing. She said she’s excited about their current success, and that the team is doing very well. However, she also said, “There’s always room for improvement.” Manjoine says that while she will be graduating next year, she’ll continue to play golf.
