Muskie Masquerade Mania: Prom 2010-2011

By Ashley Campbell and Taylor Conlin
Dress and tux? Check. Close friends and dates galore? Check. Forever high school memories? Check, check, check. Prom of 2011 was a memorable hit here at our Muscatine High school. Not only was it held in a large, beautifully decorated tent (thanks to student council) but to everyone’s surprise, no rain!
The theme: Masquerade. Hoisted by polls stood the large tent on which prom was held for the junior and senior class. Decorated with lights, balloons, and cut out masks, many students even forgot they were outside! The tent resembled a ballroom with a dance floor, circular tables, and many lights strung amongst the gigantic white gazebo. All of the students were dressed for the occasion and dressed very well. There was a large diversity amongst the student body on their dresses and tuxes. As well as the main attraction: masks.
Alyssa Caster, a senior, explains that her senior prom was “interesting” and “nice to have in a tent”.

When asked what her memorable event was towards prom, Caster said; “It was memorable because Pre-Prom we got in a minor car accident and it was our senior prom. The last time we get to attend prom before we graduate.”

Zach Canarr, another senior, said that he enjoyed prom a little bit and thought that it being held in a tent was “pretty cool”.

The best part about prom from Canarr?

“The music, prom was a pretty pleasant memory.”
Speaking of pleasant memories, graduation is just right around the corner for many to look forward to, to spread their hopes and dreams into the future. To all graduating students of 2010-2011; good luck and congratulations, grads!
